Christians Can Disagree

Acts 15:36 Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us go back and visit the believers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing." 37 Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark, with them, 38 but Paul did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work. 39 They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus, 40 but Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the believers to the grace of the Lord. 41 He went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.

Paul and Barnabas disagreed about the attendance of Mark on the second missionary trip. He did not complete the first missionary trip. Barnabas and Mark are cousins. It is understandable that he wants to offer Mark another opportunity to complete the mission. Paul and Barnabas did not stop being friends and Christian brothers. They could not agree and for this reason; they went different directions to spread the word of God. Barnabas defended his cousin, Mark.

A disagreement is not a sin. When there is a disagreement attempt to remain friends. When differences arise, ask God for guidance. In the story above, it does not appear the two men parted ways in anger. The emotion of anger is not a sin, but the way anger takes control may cause sin. Please agree to continue the conversation at a later time and walk away.
